Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine at its April 7 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine held its meeting on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

The Board elected the following new officers:

  • Jan C. Hines, DVM, Alpharetta: President
  • Henry E. Hohn, DVM, Marietta, Vice President

The Board voted to adopt amendments to Board Rule 700-2-.03 Examination and Board Rule 700-2-.02 Application for Licensure; these will allow for acceptance of the American Association of Veterinary State Board’s (AAVSB) Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) for foreign veterinary graduates seeking Georgia licensure consideration. 

The Board accepted the following cease and desist order for unlicensed practice of veterinary medicine:

  • Christina Brown, Winder

The Board accepted the following reinstatement consent orders:

  • Tracy Sasher, DVM, Snellville: period of unlicensed practice
  • Elston Atkins, DVM, Lake City: substandard care

The Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine will hold its next meeting Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
