Actions Taken By the Georgia Board of Nursing at its November 12 and 13 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Nursing held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 13, 2008.
The Board accepted a written plan submitted by Augusta State University for the discontinuance of the Associate Degree Program.
The Board accepted the written assessment and plan of action submitted by Brenau University concerning the 2007 NCLEX-RN passing percentage by individuals taking the test for the first time. The assessment is in response to the Board action taken at the September 17-18, 2008 meeting.
The Board accepted Reports II and III submitted by Macon State College in support of development of a pre-licensure bachelor of science in nursing program.
The Board accepted the Site Visit report for the College of Coastal Georgia and extended full approval of the education program through December 31, 2012. The next site visit will be scheduled for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Board denied the request of Bauder College/Kaplan Higher Education to initiate the application process for a proposed associate degree nursing program for registered professional nurses.
The Board voted to accept the recommendation of the Education Committee to deny the Compromise Resolution offered by Excelsior College.
