Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Optometry at its January 15 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Optometry held its meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2010.

The Board elected the following officers for 2010:

• H. Kemp Jones, O.D., Swainsboro: President
• Dudley Christie, O.D., Perry: Vice-President

The Board voted to adopt an amendment to Board Rule 430-2-.04 Continuing Education Requirements: Approval of Educational Programs, which specifies the number of continuing education hours that can be acquired electronically and in the area of practice management.

The Board voted to accept a cease and desist order for unlicensed practice from the following individual:

• Michael D. Acker, II, Atlanta

The Board voted to accept a consent order from the following individual:

• Lewis Steinfeld, O.D., Savannah

The Georgia State Board of Optometry is currently scheduled to hold its next meeting Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
