Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Optometry at its April 16 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Optometry held its quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

The Board voted to change the following rule:

  • Rule 430-2-.04, Continuing Education Requirements, Approval of Educational Programs: Grants approval to educational programs upon the use of the ARBO-OE Tracker Program, and requires that licensees maintain proof of attendance at continuing education programs for three years.

The Board voted to post the following rule for proposed change: 

  • Rule 430-2-.09, Proposed New Rule on Reinstatement of Licensure: The purpose of the proposed new rule is to provide the requirements for reinstatement of licensure for optometrists who have a lapsed license.

The Board voted to accept the following Cease and Desist Orders for unlicensed practice:

  • Wanda McCoy, Austell, GA
  • Amber Starks, S.K. Imports, Lyons
  • Terry Jones, S.K. Imports, Nicholls
  • Khorey Roberson, Smyrna

The Board voted to accept the following licensee by re-instatement:

  • Richard Alan Landers, Duluth

The Board voted to accept the following licensees by examination:            

  • Gina Dale Borgnin, Westfield, Indiana
  • Lesley NeSmith Brooks, Weaverville, North Carolina
  • Megan L. Blemker, Nashville, Tennessee
  • Benjamin Pascal Casella, Birmingham, Alabama
  • Richard Griffin Gordy, Phoenix City, Alabama
  • Michael Pooria Morovati, Enterprise, Alabama

The Georgia Board of Optometry will hold its next meeting Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon, Georgia.
