Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians at its March 18 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians met on Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

The Board voted to approve the following applicants for licensure:

  • Christopher L. Gilbert, Atlanta: Licensure by Examination
  • David M. Smith, Zebulon: Licensure by Reinstatement

The Board voted to approve the following rule amendment:

  • Rule 420-9-.01. Continuing Education for License Renewal. Amended. Update the existing rule to allow five of the required 10 hours of continuing education to be obtained via the internet.

The Board voted to elect Steve Sanford of Norcross as chairman and Diane Drake of Jackson as vice-chairman.

The Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians will hold its next meeting Wednesday, May 20, 2009 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
