Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians at its September 10 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 10, 2008.

The Board accepted the following public consent orders:

• Rita Ellis, Loganville: Falsifying renewal application and failure to comply.
• Susan Houston, Valdosta: Falsifying renewal application and failure to comply.

The Board held hearings and publicly sanctioned the dispensing optician licenses of the following individuals for knowingly making misrepresentations to the Board on their 2007 renewal applications and failing to comply with documentation requirements regarding continuing education:

• Janie Appleby, Bowman
• Clarence Jones, Valdosta
• Leland Oglesby, Hahira
• Jerry Smith, Valdosta

The Board voted to accept the following licensees by examination:

• Milliron, Barbara A., Woodstock
• Teknipp, Philip W., McDonough
• Weatherly, Tammy Jean, Ringgold
• Smith, Charles Robert, Jr., Newnan
• Bird, Melanie Ann, Warner Robins

The Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
