Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians at its January 23 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians held its bi-monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.

The Board voted to adopt the following rules:

  • Rule 420-9-.01 Continuing Education for License Renewals Amended: Requires a certificate reflecting 10 hours of continuing education for the biennial renewal of licenses.
  • Rule 420-5-.01 Application and Examination Requirements Amended: Requires applicants to have certain degree requirements or practical experience requirements met prior to taking the optical dispensing exam.

The Board voted to accept the following Voluntary Cease and Desist Order for unlicensed practice:

  • Valerie Highsmith, Waycross

The Board voted to accept the following licensee by re-instatement:

  • Annette Ford, Loris, SC

The Board voted to accept the following licensees by examination 

  • Emike R. Iteghie, Suwanee
