Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy at its December 11 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Massage Therapy met on Thursday, December 11, 2009.

The Board voted to ratify 115 applications for licensure.

The Board voted to post the following proposed rule amendments upon receipt of the Memo of Authority from the Assistant Attorney General:

·         345-1-.01 Definitions: Added definitions of the FSMTB licensure exam; rearranged the order of the definitions.

·         345-3-.02 Application for Licensure: Same, added language about the FSTMB licensure exam.

·         345-4-.02 Continuing Education Hours: Clarified approved provider of continuing education hours; added section on reporting and retention of CE hours/documents.

The Board voted to approve the waiver or variance of continuing education for William Blackwood, Atlanta and denied the waiver or variance for Jennifer Hartley, Augusta.

The Georgia Board of Massage Therapy will hold its next meeting on Thursday, February 26 and Friday, February 27, 2009 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Board in Macon.
