Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses at its March 27 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses held a telephone conference meeting on Thursday, March 27, 2008.

The Board voted to direct the following approved practical nursing programs to submit a corrective action plan to the Board within six weeks and to implement such plan immediately to correct the less than 80 percent passage rate of first time NCLEX-PN exam takers. If the school fails to raise exam scores among those taking the exam for the first time by September 2008, the schools will then be placed on “Conditional Approval” status.

The Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses will hold its next meeting Wednesday, May 7, 2008 and Thursday, May 8, 2008. In addition, the annual public meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2008 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon.
