1. WHAT REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION AS A LIBRARIAN?

CERTIFICATION IS ON A BASIS FROM GRADE 2 TO GRADE 7, DEPENDING UPON EDUCATION.
SEE RULE 320-3 OF THE BOARD RULES FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION.


2. HOW DO I APPLY FOR CERTIFICATION?

TO APPLY FOR CERTIFICATION, YOU MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND A TRANSCRIPT TO THE BOARD OFFICE. APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THIS WEBSITE AND FROM THE BOARD OFFICE AT (478) 207-1400.


3. AM I REQUIRED TO PASS AN EXAMINATION?

NO.


4. DOES GEORGIA RECIPROCATE WITH OTHER LIBRARIAN BOARDS?

NO.

5. IS CPE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN A LICENSE?

BEGINNING WITH THE LICENSURE PERIOD 2002-2004, LICENSEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN 10 HOURS OF CPE IN ORDER TO RENEW THE LICENSE FOR 2004-2006.  SEE INFORMATION AT THIS WEBSITE REGARDING CPE.


6. WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY WALL CERTIFICATE?

WALL CERTIFICATES MAY BE ORDERED THROUGH THE BOARD OFFICE.  YOU WILL RECEIVE A FORM FOR ORDERING AFTER YOU ARE LICENSED.


7. HOW LONG IS MY CERTIFICATION VALID?

ALL LIBRARIAN CERTIFICATES EXPIRE ON JUNE 30 OF EACH EVEN-NUMBERED YEAR.


8. HOW DO I RENEW MY CERTIFICATION?

RENEWAL FORMS ARE MAILED TO THE ADDRESS OF THE RECORD ON FILE IN THE BOARD OFFICE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTIFY THE BOARD OFFICE IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS SO THAT INFORMATION CAN BE MAILED TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS.


9. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I DON’T RECEIVE A RENEWAL FORM?

IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RENEWAL FORM BY THE FIRST WEEK IN JUNE OF EACH EVEN-NUMBERED YEAR, YOU MAY CONTACT THE BOARD OFFICE AT (478) 207-1400 TO OBTAIN A MAIL-IN RENEWAL FORM. FAILURE TO RECEIVE A RENEWAL FORM DOES NOT RELIEVE YOU OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR TIMELY RENEWAL.


10. HOW DO I UPGRADE MY CERTIFICATION?

SUBMIT AN UPGRADE APPLICATION AND TRANSCRIPT. APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THIS WEBSITE AND FROM THE BOARD OFFICE.
