Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers at its March 3 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers met on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

The Board voted to approve the following licenses:

Hearing Aid Dealers:

  • Better Hearing Aid Service, Jackson
  • Better Hearing Aid Service, Decatur
  • Beltone Hearing Aid Center, Hixson, TN
  • Southland Healthcare Services, Newnan
  • Southland Health Care Services, Breman
  • New Hope Hearing Aids, Alpharetta

Hearing Aid Dispensers:

  • Marlena B. Smith, LaFayette
  • Bridget M. Gilstrap, Cartersville
  • John G. Turner, Lithia Springs

Training Permits:

  • Amy A. Waller, Milledgeville
  • Micah D. Evans, Smyrna
  • Jeffrey S. Feltes, Stone Mountain
  • Gregory R. Welsh, Atlanta
  • Veronica K. King, Atlanta
  • Shelley E. Smith, Macon

The Board held a hearing and issued a final decision against the following licensee for unprofessional conduct:

  • Fred Dyer, Union City: 18 months suspension, followed by 12 months of probationary status with limited practice with Board approved dealer; $4,500 fine paid within 90 days; eight additional CE Hours to be completed during the suspension period; and submission of personal and employer quarterly reports during the probationary period.

The Georgia State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers will hold its next meeting Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
