Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Funeral Services at its January 18 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Funeral Services met on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
The Board voted to approve one embalmer reinstatement of licensure, one funeral director reinstatement of licensure, one new funeral establishment license, two funeral establishment name change requests and five changes to funeral director in full and continuous charge of funeral establishments.
The Board voted to approve the following request for a grace period to replace the facilities’ funeral director in full and continuous charge:
- Guyton Brothers Funeral Home, Bainbridge
The Board approved the following orders to accept fine money for inspection violations:
- Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, Inc., Augusta: $50 for failure to conspicuously display a current biennial renewal license for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director and any apprentices.
- Michael & Brown Funeral Home, Savannah: $250 for failure to have a card or brochure in each casket stating the price of the casket and failure to conspicuously display a current biennial renewal license for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director and any apprentices.
The Board voted to post a newly proposed addendum to the Board rules. The proposed rule would denounce gross or willful malpractice with the actions of withholding cremated remains or purposefully delaying the filing of a death certificate as a method of forcing payment. The posting of the amendment will be on the Board’s website upon receipt from the Attorney General’s Office of citation of legal authority to amend the rules.
The Georgia Board of Funeral Services will hold its next meeting Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
