Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Funeral Services at its May 11 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Funeral Services met on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

The Board voted to approve two new funeral establishment licenses, one crematory license, four funeral director licenses, five embalmer licenses, eight changes to funeral director in full and continuous charge of funeral establishments, one change of location for a funeral establishment, two changes in the name of funeral establishments, and one change of apprenticeship supervisor.

The Board voted to approve the following courses for continuing education:

  • International Cemetery and Funeral Association      
    • ICCFA University, College of 21st Century Services
    • ICCFA University, College of Administration and Management
    • ICCFA University, College of Cremation Services
    • ICCFA University, College of Funeral Home Management
    • ICCFA University, College of Land Management & Grounds Operations

    • Executive Roundtable Group 1
    • Executive Roundtable Group 2
    • Dealing with the Media in the 21st Century
  • Select Independent Funeral Homes

The Board approved the following orders to accept fine money for inspection violations:

  • A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home, McRae: $200 for failure to have a card or brochure in each casket stating the price of the casket.
  • Harrington Funeral Home, Lakeland: $300 for failure to maintain a minimum of eight adult caskets within the display room on the premises of the establishment.

The Board approved the following request to maintain previously obtained apprentice hours for the following licensee:

  • Craig Wright, Augusta: Funeral Service Apprentice 

The Board approved the following request to lift probationary licensure status for the following licensee:

  • Nathaniel Payne, Albany: Funeral Director

The Georgia Board of Funeral Services will hold its next meeting Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
