Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service at its April 16 Meeting

Macon, GA – The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service met on Thursday, April 16, 2009.

The Board voted to ratify all decisions and actions made at the March 10, 2009 meeting.

The Board approved the following applications for licensure:

  • William Oscar Pruitt, Jr., Winter Park, FL: Reinstatement Funeral Director and Embalmer License
  • Percy London Hodges, Swainsboro: Reinstatement Funeral Director License
  • Tonya Mikle, Atlanta: Reinstatement Funeral Service Apprentice
  • Anthony Lamar Williams, Albany: Funeral Service Apprentice
  • Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Inc., Dublin: New License due to Change of Location
  • James Quentin Ivey, Macon: Reinstatement Funeral Director and Embalmer License

The Board approved the following Continuing Education course:

  • Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, Carrollton: AGEG 2009 Clinic (10 hours)

The Board approved a first 90-day grace period request for Pembroke Mortuary in Pembroke during which the establishment may operate with licensed funeral directors while obtaining approval from the Board of a new Funeral Director in Full & Continuous Charge.

The Board approved a second 90-day grace period request for Speers & Speers Funeral Home in McDonough during which the establishment may operate with licensed funeral directors while obtaining approval from the Board of a new Funeral Director in Full & Continuous Charge.

The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service will hold its next meeting on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
