Action Taken by the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service at its March 10 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service met on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
The Board held a public hearing to render a decision on a complaint of unlicensed practice.
- Bentley Funeral Home, Roberta: The Board voted to lift the suspension of the establishment license by a public consent order, placing the establishment on two year probation and issuing a $500 fine for operating without a Board approved funeral director.
The Board approved the following orders to accept fine money for inspection violations:
- Myers Funeral Home, Woodbine: Fined $400 for unsanitary conditions and failure to have signage in each casket stating the price of the casket.
- Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Inc., Toccoa: Fined $50 for failure to screen outside ventilation openings.
- Edwards Funeral Home, Decatur: Fined $100 for expired hearse registration.
The Board reviewed an Application for Agency Review in the matter of Georgia State Board of Funeral Service v. Henry Edmond Shelton, Edwin Dewan Shelton, and Hanley Shelton. The Board voted to extend the time to review the Initial Decision for 30 days and to set the hearing for Agency Review for April 14, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.
The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
