Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service at its February 10 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Funeral Service met on Tuesday, February 10, 2009.
The Board approved the following orders to accept fine money for inspection violations and settling cases:
- Crosby Funeral Home, Alma: Fined $250 for unsanitary conditions and nonporous sink cover.
- J L Litman Memorial Funeral Service, Albany: Fined $650 for unsanitary conditions, failure to conspicuously display a current license for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director and/or any apprentices, and failure to have a card in each casket stating pricing information.
- Jacobs Mortuary, Bainbridge: Fined $200 for unsanitary conditions.
- James R. Barnes Mortuary, Statesboro: Fined $500 for failure to maintain eight adult caskets in the display room.
- Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, Inc., Newnan: Fined $300 for failure to maintain eight adult caskets in the display room.
- Alvie Coes Funeral Home, Unadilla: Fined $50 for failure to conspicuously display a current license for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director and/or any apprentices.
- Leonard’s Funeral Home, Talbotton: Fined $200 for failure to maintain a “Cost of Goods and Services Statement” and failure to attach an identification tag and/or label to a deceased human body.
- Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Inc., Toccoa: Fined $50 for failure to screen outside ventilation openings.
- Garrer Funeral Home, Louisville: Fined $100 for failure to maintain eight adult caskets in the display room.
- Fluker Funeral Home, Homerville: Fined $300 for failure to maintain one operable hearse and failure to display pricing information on caskets.
- Walker Funeral Home, Carrollton: Fined $150 for failure to maintain eight adult caskets in the display room and failure to conspicuously display a current license for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director and/or any apprentices.

The Board voted to accept a consent order for probationary licensure from the following:
- Bryan Joseph Melton, Tifton.
The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
