Actions Taken by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists at its May 6 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists met Friday, May 6, 2011.
The Board voted to license 22 associate professional counselors by exam waiver, 19 professional counselors by exam waiver, two professional counselors by endorsement, eight clinical social workers by exam waiver, one clinical social worker by reinstatement, and seven master social workers by exam waiver.
The following petitions for variance/waiver requests were presented to the Board:
- John Newmark, Miami Lakes, FL; Rule 135-5-.02 Requirements for Licensure: Professional Counselors; Board Decision: Denied. Individual must apply for licensure under the current requirements.
- Alan Graham, Atlanta; Rule 135-6-.04(2) Revocation of Expired Licenses and Reinstatement of Expired Licenses; Board Decision: Denied. Licensee must reinstate license under the current requirements.
- Sidney Blessey, New Orleans, LA; Rule 135-6-.04(2) Revocation of Expired Licenses and Reinstatement of Expired Licenses; Board Decision: Granted.
The Board voted to post amendments to Rule 135-3-.04 Licensure by Endorsement for the 30 day minimum requirement upon the receipt of the memo of authority from AAG.
The Board voted to post amendments to Rule 135-9-.01 Continuing Education Requirements for the 30 day minimum requirement upon the receipt of the memo of authority from the AAG.
Board voted not to adopt the amendments to Rule 135-9-.01 Continuing Education Requirements as posted for the 30-day minimum requirement due to procedural changes.
The Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists will hold its next meeting Friday, June 3, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
