There is no endorsement or reciprocity for a Master Social Work or Clinical Social Work license. If you have taken the national ASWB exam for Master Social Work or Clinical Social Work, then you would apply for license by exam waiver. If not, you would apply for license by exam.
The list of states that are approved for license by endorsement for Licensed Professional Counselors are as follows: Alabama, Arkanas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
MFT licensure by endorsement is considered when an applicant is fully licensed and in good standing in another jurisdiction and has met or exceeded the following criteria:
- The license is held in the specialty of MFT
- The requirement of the jurisdiction in which the license is held are substantially equivalent to and/or exceed those of the state of Georgia.
In order for MFT licensing by endorsement to be considered, the applicant must complete the appropriate application forms and must have the issuing jurisdiction forward a completed verification of licensure form to the Board. The applicant must also forward a copy of the law and rules of the jurisdiction in which he/she is licensed to the Board.
Currently the states which are endorsed for MFT licensure in Georgia include Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Utah. This list is reviewedand updated periodically.
If you are not licensed in the approved states, then if you have taken the national NCE exam offered by NBCC for counselors and the Marriage & Family Therapists exam offered by Professional Exam Services, you would request the official exam score be sent directly to the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists.
