A2. Each license type requires a different national exam which requires prior approval by the Board:

• Professional Counselor – National Counselor Exam (NCE) by National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)

• Social Worker – Masters Social Work Exam by Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) and Clinical Social Work Exam by Association Social Work Board (ASWB)

• Marriage & Family Therapists – Marriage and Family Therapists Exam by Professional Exam Service (PES)

If you have already taken the national exam required for your profession then you would apply for license by exam waiver.
You are required to pay an exam fee for each scheduled exam.

Upon approval by the Board to take the exam, you will be scheduled for the next available exam date and expected to exam. You have the option to specify an exam date (review exam dates schedule) when you apply.
