Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology at its July 8 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Cosmetology met on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

The Board voted to approve the school application for Southeastern Beauty School, Stockbridge branch.

The Board voted to deny the rule waiver variance and school application of Cutting Edge Beauty Institute, Snellville.

The Board voted to lift probationary status for two licensees:

  • Tina L. Riley, Jasper
  • Pascal Bensimon, Atlanta

The Board voted to accept the following policies:

Policy # 4
I. Contact Lenses. Prescribing and /or dispensing contact lenses are not covered in the Cosmetology Practice Act (O.C.G.A. 43-10); therefore, the Board does not approve of this practice by Cosmetologists. Contact lenses (including colored contact lenses for cosmetic purposes) falls under the jurisdiction of the Georgia State Board of Optometry, the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians, and the Composite Medical Board of Georgia.

Policy # 10 – Cosmetology schools licensed by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology are required to notify the Board in writing regarding changes in instructors (when an instructor is hired or is no longer employed at a school).

The Board voted to dismiss citation against the following establishment:

  • The Perfect Look Hair Salon, Savannah

The Board voted to accept consent agreements for licensure from the following individuals or establishments:
