Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology at its January 14 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Cosmetology met Wednesday, January 14, 2009.

The Board voted to post the following rule change:

  • Board Rule 130-07.04, Fining Amended:
    • 2.  Failure to have a salon/shop license and/or registered shall result in the following fine:  Unlicensed - $500.00 Expired License - $300.00 (O.C.G.A. 43-10-11).
    • 4. Failure to post current salon/shop license or current copy of online verification in an open area shall result in a fine of: $100.00 150.00. (Rule 130-2-.11(3))

The Board voted to refer the following two licensees to the Attorney General’s Office for non-payment of citations:

  • Palace Nails, Thomson
  • Hair Presented By Jones, Warrenton

The Board voted to suspend the following two licenses for non-payment of student loans:

  • Jennifer R. White, Colbert
  • Melody Thomas, Macon

The Board voted to accept the following public consent orders:

  • Jayme Lee Humberstone, Dunwoody
  • Kristie Thaxton, Locust Grove
  • Lavangy Pohlel, Atlanta
  • Tony Contreras d/b/a Dominican Hair Salon, Jonesboro
  • Britney Nicole Taylor, Lithonia
  • Rhonda C. Quinn, Pine Lake
  • Teresa Elaine Bivins, Carrolton
  • Kenneth Groomes, Ellenwood

The Georgia State Board will hold its next meeting Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
