state board of Cemeterians

The State Board of Cemeterians is responsible for enforcing the provision of the Georgia Cemetery and Funeral Services Act of 2000, as amended, except for matters relating to the regulation of perpetual care trust and preneed escrow funds and accounts.

The Board consists of seven members who are appointed by the Governor. Six members are practicing cemeterians, and one member is a consumer member who has no connection with the cemetery profession. The Board is authorized to approve registrations, to revoke or suspend registrations for violations of the law, and to adopt rules and regulations concerning the Georgia Cemetery and Funeral Services Act.

Board meetings are held six times per year on the fourth Tuesday of each month and are open to the public. Persons wishing to propose matters for the Board’s consideration should submit a written request to the Professional Licensing Boards Division.
