Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Barbers at its December 8 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Barbers met on Monday, December 8, 2008.

The Board held a public hearing regarding the following rule change and voted to adopt the rule:

70-5-.07 Pets. Amended.

(1) Pets shall not be allowed in barber establishments, except for guide and assistance dogs as permitted by Title 30 of the Georgia Code.

(2) Each barber shop shall post in an open area, so as to be easily read by customers, a sign prohibiting pets.

The Board voted to deny licenses to three applicants:

  • Keith L. Middleton, Atlanta: Instructor Endorsement
  • William Green, Savannah: Master Barber/Reinstatement
  • Felicianos Lee, Columbia, AL:  Master Barber/Reinstatement

The Board voted to uphold the following citations:

  • American Haircuts, Roswell
  • Elliott L Chaney, Douglasville
  • Claude’s Hill Street Barber, Atlanta
  • Franchize Barber Shop II, Covington
  • Gotcha Faded, Decatur
  • Hair Master, Atlanta
  • Headquarters, Conyers
  • Steven Henry d/b/a  In The Kut, Atlanta
  • J’s Barber Salon, Stone Mountain

The Board voted to uphold the following citations and reduce the associated fines:

  • Big Boys Barber, Stone Mountain
  • Big Boys Barber, Lithonia
  • Dacoe/Executive Kuts, Decatur
  • Exodus Barber, Stone Mountain
  • Gresham Barber Shop, Atlanta
  • Sharp Impressions, Smyrna

The Board voted to continue the following case:

  • Bilton B Broughton, Lithonia

The Board voted to accept a consent agreement for licensure from the following licensee:

  • Tyreck Reed, Thomasville

The Georgia State Board of Barbers will hold its next meeting on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon.
