The Georgia State Board of Barbers consists of six members who are appointed by the Governor. Five of the members shall be barbers and a sixth member shall be appointed from the public at large and shall have no connection whatsoever with the profession of barbering. The Board conducts its meetings, primarily in Macon at the Secretary of State’s Office, approximately six times a year. The Board is responsible for reviewing applications, administering examinations, licensing qualified applicants and regulating the professional practice of licensees throughout the state. Applicants for licensure must meet the required educational and training requirements before they are allowed to sit for the practical and written examination. In addition, shops are inspected and complaints are investigated to determine whether or not disciplinary action by the Board is warranted.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: We will not be accepting examination or re-exam applications for any future barber instructor examinations until after August 1, 2009. |
