Be an Involved Voter

There are many ways you can help increase voter participation and stay active in the electoral process. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Call the Secretary of State’s office at 404-656-2871 to request voter registration applications for distribution at your place of business. These are postage paid forms which can be completed and individually mailed by the applicant. The form may also be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format.

  • Hold a special voter registration drive.

  • Set up a link from your web site to the Secretary of State’s web site via www.sos.state.ga.us/elections.

  • Serve as a poll worker for upcoming elections. Contact your local county elections official to find out how to volunteer as a poll worker and serve your community.

  • Talk to your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers about the importance of voting and civic participation.

  • Write to your elected officials. Many legislators receive as few as 20 letters on a significant issue, and you can play a role in shaping your elected official’s opinion.

  • Read your local newspaper and educate yourself on the issues that are prevalent in your community. Look for opportunities to get involved in community activities.

  • Volunteer with a local interest group that provides opportunities to work on an issue that interests you.

  • Write a contributing article in your local newspaper about current events that affect you and your community.
