Administration of Estates Generally

Citation: O.C.G.A. Section 53-7-30 Duty of administrator or executor to make inventory; exhibition to appraisers; return to probate court; oath.
Regulating Agency: Appropriate county probate court.
Requirement: (1) To make a just and true inventory of all the personal property owned and possessed by the decedent at his death and all real property belonging to the decedent located in the county in which administration may be had; and (2), when the inventory and appraisement are returned to the judge of the probate court, to make in the inventory a true statement of all goods, chattels, rights, and credits of the decedent which are in the hands, possession, and knowledge of the administrator or executor and of all real property lying outside the county in which administration may be had.
Persons Affected: Administrators or executors of decedents' estates.
Retention Period: Until filed with the judge of the probate court.
