State Records Committee
WHEREAS, Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 24 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated permits the reproduction of micrographic images to be introduced as
evidence, in lieu of the original in any court, board, bureau, department,
commission or agency of this state; and
WHEREAS, Article 6 of Chapter 18 of Title 50 of
the Official Code of Georgia Annotated vests in the State Records Committee
authority for the establishment of microfilm standards applicable to State
agencies and local Governments; and
WHEREAS, Article 6 further provides the
concurrence of the Administrative Office of the Courts is required for said
standards to be applicable to the courts; and
WHEREAS, the State Records Committee did, on January 1, 1987, adopt and
establish with the concurrence of the Administrative Office of the Courts the
Micrographics Standards as the microform standard for all records of State
agencies and local Governments and all records of the Courts of the State of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, microfilm copies, produced in accordance with the Micrographics
Standards, are faithful and accurate reproductions of the original
writings or records; Now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE STATE RECORDS COMMITTEE that all paper records
of State agencies and local governments and all records of the Court of the
State of Georgia which have been microfilmed and verified in accordance with
said Micrographic Standards may be destroyed, unless specifically
prohibited by law, code, resolution, order or an approved State Records
Committee records retention schedule.
