Viewing Tips

The original documents scanned by the Georgia Archives vary greatly in their quality and legibility. Records were often produced using poor quality paper or ink, and many have faded over time. All of our scans are quality controlled to ensure that each image is the best that we can produce given the limitations of the original. These tips may help your viewing:

Browser:

This application is optimized for Internet Explorer 6.0 and a screen resolution of 600 x 800.

Image Size:

Most browsers provide a toggle button (usually in the lower right hand corner) that will alternately enlarge and reduce the image.  Wait for the entire image to download and then wait for the toggle button to appear.  You may need to “hover” your mouse in the bottom right hand corner of the image to make the button appear.

Enhancing:

If you have software to enhance images, you may right-click your mouse and select “Save Picture As.” Name the picture and save it to your own computer, then open it and use your imaging software to enhance the image. Images saved to your computer are still subject to copyright restrictions.
