This file records the names of all fortunate drawers in Georgia's last five lotteries. All books are arranged by lottery, 1807 through 1832, thence alphabetically by county, with one county recorded in each volume.
In each book are the names of the fortunate drawers for that respective county grouped together under their particular letter of the alphabet (i.e., all the "A's" on one page, etc.). In addition, the status of many participants are given, as: W.R.S. for widow of Revolutionary soldier, orphan(s), or Sol. which denotes a soldier or veteran of either the War of 1812 or the Indian Wars. Besides each name is listed the district in which the fortunate drawer resided at the time he registered to participate in that lottery.
Finally, these books give the land lot, district, section (Cherokee only), and county in which the land drawn was located. In most cases, published volumes of land lottery indexes were originally copied from this set. However, the original manuscript book can be checked to verify the proper spelling of a name or other data. This series includes 353 volumes.
