DESCRIPTION OF SERIES AND ITS CONTENTS:

      This series consists of notebooks, notes, typescripts and loose maps compiled by geological field agents.  The series is organized in three parts as follows:

 

        Part I:   geological descriptions and topographical measurements of

                  specific locations, surveys, maps, sketches, and travel

                  records arranged by name of mineral.

 

        Part II:  well reports, including county maps, well name and number,

                  location, owner, date of completion, depth and use.  Arranged

                  alphabetically by county.

 

        Part III: geological descriptions and topographical measurements of

                  specific location, surveys maps, sketches, and travel records

                  on miscellaneous minerals.  Volumes arranged roughly in

                  alphabetical orders by name of agent and thereunder numerically

                  and loose papers are arranged chronologically.

 

      Quality and legibility varies from volume to volume.  Some volumes include a table of contents, and some are labeled by county or quadrangle surveyed.  A list of notebooks included appears below.
