Scanning Services

With the use of specialized imaging equipment, the Georgia Archives is able to produce high quality digital images from a wide variety of historic documents, photographs, maps and books.

The Archives provides imaging services for state agencies and private not-for-profit organizations through its Intern program. These services are provided in response to requests from organizations that lack the equipment or expertise to digitize their materials in-house, and are reluctant to leave their collections with a commercial vendor that is unfamiliar with handling historic documents.

Payments received for scanning work are used to hire interns to perform the work under staff supervision and assistance. All work, therefore, is subject to the availability of resources. The Georgia Archives reserves the right to refuse projects which cannot be performed by interns or which would, in its opinion, divert resources from its primary mission.
