Home > Information for General Public > Donate Materials Donate Materials Donate books: The Georgia Archives has a strict collecting policy regarding donated books. Please read the Georgia Archives Collection Development Policy before sending book donations to the Archives. Donations are reviewed by the Collection Development Committee, which meets once a month. Books which do not meet Collection Development Policy guidelines will be returned to the donor. Please send donations to: Georgia Archives If you have any questions regarding the Collection Development Policy, please contact our Descriptive Services section at describe@sos.state.ga.us or 678-364-3781. Donate photographs: The Georgia Archives accepts photographs that complement state government records. If you have photographs which are associated with state government that you would like to donate, please contact our Descriptive Services section at describe@sos.state.ga.us. Donate organizational records and personal papers: The Georgia Archives accepts donations of family and organizational papers and records that are closely associated with the state government. Georgia has many professionally-run historical repositories which collect non-government papers. We encourage people who have historical records not associated with state government to donate them to one of these repositories. Please note that the Georgia Archives does not collect:
Donate family vertical file material: The Georgia Archives accepts up to 25 pages (double or single sided) of vertical file material per family name per contribution. These can be pamphlets, family charts, photocopies of Bible records and personal family records not in another repository, obituaries and photocopies of newspaper clippings. We only accept completed research projects. The Georgia Archives does not accept photocopies of records owned by archival repositories. Home |
