seeks to promote fairness in the marketplace and responds to victims of consumer
fraud.
Give.org:
The
Alliance reports
on nationally soliciting charitable organizations that are the subject of donor
inquiries. These reports include an evaluation of a charity in
relation to the voluntary Better Business Bureau (BBB) charity standards. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance
offers guidance to donors on making informed giving decisions through charity
evaluations, various "tips" publications, and publishes the quarterly
Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Guide.
Internet Nonprofit Center: The Internet
Nonprofit Center publishes the Nonprofit FAQ, a resource of information provided
by participants in many online discussions about nonprofits and their work.
GuideStar:
GuideStar
gathers and distributes data on more than 850,000 IRS-recognized nonprofits.
This site provides a Donor’s Guide to the Nonprofit Universe including
information on the programs and finances charities and nonprofit organizations.
Tax Exempt Organizations – IRS:
Provides information regarding the requirements for tax-exempt organizations,
how to apply for recognition of tax-exempt status by the IRS, and annual filing
requirements.
Foundations.org: A directory of
charitable grantmakers that will allow you to browse
the foundation directory, pick a listed foundation, search any foundation's
information page or search any foundation's home page. Foundation home pages may
contain downloadable information such as grant applications
and periodical and financial reports.
