Information about Continuing Competency


The Board requires 30 clock hours between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007 and 30 clock hours during each biennium thereafter. A minimum of four (4) hours per biennium must be in ethics and jurisprudence. Learning experiences submitted for continuing competency hours must have content beyond the licensee’s present level of knowledge and competence.

For detailed information concerning Continuing Competence, please review the Board rules and policies that address continuing competence (Rule 490-4 and Board Policy #7). Please note that it is the licensee’s responsibility to be familiar with all laws, Board rules, and Board policies concerning the practice of Physical Therapy.

Please note: The Board does not pre-approve continuing competency hours. It is the licensee’s responsibility to review the rules and policy to determine whether or not the course(s) you are taking are approved.
