Actions Taken By the Georgia Board of Nursing at its December 19 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Nursing met by conference call on Friday, December 19, 2008.
The Board discussed the impact of the statutory change regarding applicants for licensure by endorsement which became effective July 1, 2008. The Board determined that applicants for licensure for endorsement may petition the Board, on a case by case basis, to grant a rule waiver or variance pertaining to the applicant’s nursing education under the following criteria:
Applicant was actively enrolled in a nursing program on July 1, 2008.
Applicant completed all program requirements and will have successfully graduated from the program by July 1, 2010.
Applicant holds a valid license from another state or jurisdiction, as required for licensure by endorsement.
Applicant applied for endorsement in Georgia by December 31, 2010.
Applicant complies with procedure for rule waiver/variance as provided by the Administrative Procedure Act.
The Georgia Board of Nursing will hold its next meeting Thursday, January 15 and Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
